Q. I am getting the message that I have to pay for Weebly to add additional pages or additional artifacts. Do I have to pay to use Weebly for this course?
A. Course artifacts should be saved as pdfs or compressed files to save space. (See Adding Powerpoints.) Otherwise you won't have enough space in your Weebly portfolio and will be prompted to pay to add additional pages. If some or all of your course artifacts are not saved as pdfs or compressed files, then take the time to update them.
Q. I lost one or more of my documents I want to include in my portfolio! What can I do?
A. If you submitted your assignment online in Canvas, you can retrieve assignments from the Canvas course using the following tutorial: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-2765
Q. I have a very personal artifact that I don't feel comfortable sharing. What should I do?
A. If you do not feel comfortable sharing a particular artifact with your EDU 299 instructor or a potential employer, as long as you address the four points in your page narrative, you do not have to include the artifact. (See Course Pages and Artifacts for the four points.)
Q. I'm concerned about internet privacy, and I don't want my website being accessed by just anyone. What should I do?
A. It's very unlikely that someone would be able to view your website unless they knew your exact URL. However, if you are still concerned, you can unpublish your site until you want to share it. When you want to share it with your professors or potential employers, you can publish it again!
Q. How do I unpublish my Weebly website?
A. Copy and paste this URL into your brower for instructions on how to unpublish your Weebly website:
https://hc.weebly.com/hc/en-us/articles/216289618-How-Do-I-Un-publish-My-Site-
Q. Do we have to submit our artifacts from previous courses to the Writing Center or Smart Thinking for review before we add them to our portfolio?
A. No. Artifacts created in previous courses are not to be submitted to the Writing Center or Smart Thinking for review.
Q. We already made our pages in our previous Education courses, so why do we have to change our pages for this course?
A. When you made your pages in your previous courses, you were just learning how to do Weebly and you were taught the simplest way to create a portfolio. Now that you are further along in the program, you need to organize your portfolio according to your degree program so it looks professional and polished. Your degree program reflects what is on your degree sheet, the most important of which is the degree competencies. The degree competencies are also reflected on your Portfolio Self-Assessment Matrix. This is why your portfolio is organized according to your degree competencies.
Q. Why do I have to make a Weebly portfolio anyway? When am I ever going to use it?
A. Your Weebly portfolio is a representation of the most important things you have learned in your education, as well as a representation of who you are and who you will be as a teacher. For this reason, you will want to share your portfolio URL on your resume. That way future employers can see your skills and abilities in a professional and polished format that adds to the information on your resume!
